About Us
I am a freelance writer with a passion for children. I also love animals, reading, quilting, and of course writing. I am a wife, mom, grandma, and registered nurse. I have done nursing in a busy emergency room, a pediatric intensive care at a University Hospital, a neonatal intensive care, and in the homes of medically fragile children. I love working with children in all kinds of places. I have even taught high school students all about being a nurse. I have many years of experience with both healthy children and those who are sick. This makes it easy to find things to write about that will be of interest to children.
I love watching children discover the world around them. You can feel the excitement when they learn something cool or when they do an activity all by themselves. I really love it when kids learn to read. There is a wonderful exciting world in books and I want to share that world with kids and their parents in every way I can.
I write fiction and nonfiction for kids of all ages. I also write health and safety articles for kids and their parents. Sometimes I write about the sad things that kids feel because those feelings are easier to read about if it is in a story about someone their age. I really like to write stories that get turned into easy readers for kids just starting to read. An easy reader can be a fun or silly story with words that children can sound out and recognize. These stories help children to be successful at reading which will encourage them to continue.
I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry so if you need an article or story for a child, especially on a particular subject, please let me know. I am currently working on a series for kids to teach them first aid. I am also working on another book about a character named Lilly Isabella Lane. She is a fictional nine year old who has been diagnosed with cancer and her story is one of hope for children who may be dealing with the same thing. I created her to honour the many children I have cared for who have had a serious illness. I think you will like her. Check back here often, and I will introduce her to you soon.
Location: I live on 10 acres with my husband. Our children are grown but I write from my home office which I share with our cats. We also have ten dogs and six alpacas and three grandchildren who come to visit the animals. I don't think I will run out of things to write about for a very long time, do you?
